Wilson and Festus win in local Competition

Wilson Chola and Festus Mwagha of Cholacs System emerged second runners up winning cash award for their smart water control system that uses IOT/sms to automate water pump and detection of pipe leaks. Ideal for large commercial water companies but also institutions and individuals. The two day hackathon was organized by UN-HABITAT Nairobi under the project Innovate Counties Challenge held at BitHub Africa. Congratulations!!

Innovation in the Lands Sector 

Geoffrey Mwachari and  Nyambura Waweru   got to the finals of  HiiL Innovating Justice competition heldlast  at iHub.  They developed “Smart Shamba App” – a lands digitizing and titling solution using block chain  technology. Congratulations!!

Sote ICT Project Introduced in Kwale County

Sote Hub working with Kwale County Government convened a workshop for principals from ten secondary schools and four polytechnics aimed at introducing Sote ICT project and especially the concept of Practice Enterprise Network in these schools.

During the workshop, the participants were introduced to the concept, benefits to both the leaners and teachers, role of the teacher/patron in Sote ICT clubs and Practice Companies, ideation and formation of start-ups right at high school level and the transition to Sote Hub after graduation. With this, Sote ICT project officially rolls on to Kwale as second project area.

 Sote Hub hold start-up Fire up Event 

On the16th September 2017, Sote Hub organized the first in a series of ‘’Startup Fire-up” to be held every two months. The event brings together business community, startup founders and young entrepreneurs on one hand and business, tech mentors, leaders and coach on the other, to share on ideas, recent innovations to basic businesses acumen. Taita Taveta Principals trained on  Ethics and Integrity

Sote Hub organized training on Ethics and Integrity held on Saturday 30th September 2017 facilitated Jackline Nyandeje, Executive Director at Ethics and Integrity Institute- a not-for-profit organization advocating for behavior change, anti-corruption and ethical business.

The objective of the training was to inspire ethical leadership (servant leadership) and commit to national values and principles of sustainable development as well as to promote values for living peacefully among people, between people, nature and environment.

The training was attended all the 12 principals of the schools under Sote ICT project and Mr. Kamau Haron from the TSC County Director Office

Sote Hub is now a member of Thomson Reuters Foundation 

Sote Hub is now member of Trust Law which is a project of Thomson Reuters Foundation. Trust Law offers free legal advice and support to startups  in areas of connections to free legal assistance that help organizations or business to focus on fulfilling their social missions, rather than expending limited resources on legal expertise. The support is in advice concerning general commercial matters, intellectual property protection, employment issues etc. Learn more about Trust Law here
