Voices for Climate Action (VCA) Project

The project is Financed by the Slovak Aid and implemented by Sote Hub.

We identified innovators, SMES, organizations, groups already implementing nature-based solutions to climate problems especially in agriculture, environment with minimum 50% of selected enterprises run by women.

Sectors

Drought resistant varieties of crops and livestock breeds.
Plastic recycling.
Local smart irrigation technologies
Vertical gardening systems.
Renewable energy solutions that reduce pressure on trees and wood (example, briquettes to reduce demand on mangrove forests), reafforestation projects, nature-based businesses, circular economy.

A fight on climate change is a fight on poverty. Through this project I was able to identify how to strengthen and commercialize Azolla farming. Azolla farming is not only focused on food security but also climate change.

Our Impact

We catalyzed success of 20 businesses in climate smart agriculture and renewable energy.
60 new jobs have been created.
Created a community of MSME entrepreneurs that are offering long term environmental solutions.
Created a cohort of collaborating partners such as the County Government, SME business advisory and SME finance / grant partners, who can mentor, advise and provide opportunities to the SMEs to access.
Through established linkages a number of MSMEs have received external funding
